The Crossland Group was founded in 1961 by Richard I. "Dick" Crossland, Sr. At the time, he was pastor of a church in Dallas, Texas. He needed some financial advice and found it hard to get. In fact, the advice he did get was the worst possible for a young minister with three young children. Dick realized that clergy and religious professionals needed services from someone who understood them and would put their needs first. He and his wife, Jean, launched The Crossland Group, out of their garage and it has continued to grow from there!
Today, The Crossland Group is lead by Dick's youngest son, Jeff Crossland. Jeff and Dick worked closely for more than 20 years, and upon Dick's retirement in 2005, Jeff took over the reigns as president of The Crossland Group.
The Crossland Group philosophy has always focused on the importance of listening to our clients, helping them define financial goals, and developing a plan to achieve those goals. John Wooden, the legendary and famous basketball coach of the UCLA Bruins often told his players that "failing to prepare, is preparing to fail." In our world of helping clients to achieve their financial goals, the message might be "failing to plan, is planning to fail."
